Help us upgrade!

So, we are going to have a series of polls over the next few weeks asking for your opinions regarding what upgrades we should add to our house. The first is about the kitchen. Should we extend our cabinets to the ceiling or should we upgrade our counter tops from laminate to corian? Vote in the poll on the right and share your thoughts with us in the comments. For the google reader users you have to go to our actual blog page to see the poll.

And so this blog post isn't just words, here is a cute pictures of our boys.

Oh, and the upgrades in this poll are roughly the same price so don't let that influence you. And there are no "both" or "neither" answers, it's one or the other.

here's my plug for your upgrade. do the counter tops. i had corian in my house (back in the day) and thought it was the greatest thing ever.

plus...let's be honest. who can reach the top shelves of those super tall cabinets anyways? you don't wanna be dragging out the step stool to get down some plates.

Good idea on the poll. I voted for counter tops. That was easy... bring on some harder questions!!! I'm ready! :)

Go for the counters! For sure. It is, in my opinion, a more worthwhile upgrade (to the eye and all). And you guys might get irritated trying to reach those top shelves! Corian is pretty! Love it.

I vote for the counters. We're too short to reach the top of our cabinets already and they don't even go to the ceiling. And you guys aren't THAT much taller than us.... :)

It is far easier to upgrade to corian or granite in the future if you should choose to with laminate countertops. Making a cabinet change is a far bigger deal with a greater sunk cost. Having made the choice already, we went with taller cabinets and have not regretted it, since there are a million things you wind up having to squirrel away that will rarely be used that are easier to have out of the way where they won't get broken or have to be moved every time you want something out of the cabinets.

One more thing... if the cabinets go all the way to the ceiling, you don't have to clean above them :D

Totally the cabinets. If you don't put the cabinets to the ceiling then you need to decorate and clean above it. They also look cheap if you don't but crown molding on them when they don't go to the ceiling which is another upgrade. You also don't have a storage room and you always need more places to put things that you don't use very often or it is another place to put food storage too. Everyone I know that has walked into my house wishes they would have put them higher. I would love corian but not at the expense of the higher cabinets.
